Lettuce & Lovage Café

sunday comedy night

The Cafe at Great Bow Wharf, Langport reopens its Doors

Lettuce & Lovage from Bristol have been successful in taking on the lease at Great Bow Wharf in Langport which reopened its doors with Christmas cheer and a fabulous menu in early December. It’s very fitting that this city-based catering company should move out to the countryside, closer to the source of their ingredients as the core team met and worked together at Quartier Vert and Bordeaux Quay restaurants in Bristol, each pioneering organic, locally sourced and seasonal food.
Lettuce & Lovage are now placed in the heart of the Somerset levels where they can be in constant contact with their suppliers, most of whom are within fifteen minutes of the wharf. This means that the chefs can choose their vegetables from the fields in which they are grown and it’s their preference to use farmers that are herbicide and pesticide-free thus maintaining their foodie philosophy.
The new chef at the Wharf is Davide Branciamore from Cardiff, he has a great appreciation for fresh, honest, unpretentious food and in the past, through a combined love of travel and gastronomy has picked up a far flung repertoire of dishes from around the world.
This team are true foodies, living for food, drink and hospitality. They make great use of what’s in season from nettles and wild garlic in spring and early summer to foraged mushrooms from secret locations in the autumn.
Their wide-ranging experience from a family run Sicilian trattoria in Australia to an AA rosette awarded restaurant in Shropshire, exclusive corporate hospitality at the Wimbledon championships to a 5* hotel in New Zealand, along with the wealth of knowledge picked up from working in some of the West Country’s best known restaurants will surely put Lettuce & Lovage at the Wharf on the West Country gastro map.
“We’re so excited to be here”, says Jo Trendall, owner of Lettuce and Lovage. “Once the Christmas festivities are over, we looking forward to putting on special evenings for regional cookery experiences with guest chefs and would love to hear ideas from the local community.” Lettuce & Lovage at the Wharf are taking bookings now for Christmas.
