The Parrett Catchment Project's River Festival has fast become a top annual attraction celebrating one of Somerset's greatest natural assets, water, its rivers and waterways. The River Festival 2006 is situated on the banks of the River Parrett at Langport, in the heart of the Somerset Levels.
Over the past 3 years the festival has seen over 14,500 visitors, 69 river craft on the water, nearly 150 exhibits, displays and demonstrations from associated organisations plus live music, art and craft workshops, fishing, boat trips, walks and links to the town's history as well as being as fun day out for all the family.

In the 18th Century Langport was one of the major trading posts for sugar, flour, corn, salt, coal and willow. However the river trade declined with the introduction of the railway in 1853. The last cargo passed under Bow Bridge in the 1940's. May 2006 will see the river come alive once again with various craft. This beautiful river and its surroundings has become a hidden secret of Langport.
