English International Walking Festival
June 14th & 15th 2008
Come and join us! Get physical and enjoy the Somerset countryside and its
delights!
This will be the third International Walking Festival to be based at Langport. The
inaugural Festival in 2006 was a great success with walkers coming from far and
wide to take part and last year's event saw even more walkers from even more
countries taking part. People of all ages take part: families, marathon walkers,
week-end walkers, the disabled - there is something for everyone as there are a number of
different distances and routes.
The walks are for pleasure but if you want to raise funds for a charity of your
choice you are quite welcome to do so.
The Festival is an opportunity to see the beautiful countryside around Langport
while giving yourself a challenge. The walks will be 5k, 10k, 20k and 42k
and all will be circular starting and finishing at Langport's Huish
Episcopi Science college. The walks encompass the
Somerset levels and will as far as possible be in the countryside and not on
public roads. They also take
in some of the many pubs, small attractions and local cottage industries in the
area. Snacks and light refreshments will be provided along the routes. Each
person who completes the route of their choice will receive a Certificate but
the Festival is completely non-competitive.
Car parking is free and will be professionally marshalled.
Entertainment
On the evening of Friday 13th June there will be entertainment from the
Berties Big Band playing the Glen Miller sound. If you haven't seen this band, you have really missed something!
tickets are £10 each.
On Saturday 14th June entertainment will be provided by the Tone Valley
Jazz Band. Tickets are £5 each.
Contact the LADT offices (details below) for tickets for evening entertainment
