The History Society was founded in May 1997 and holds monthly meetings to which visiting speakers are invited to give illustrated talks on subjects of historical interest on Langport, surrounding villages and topics of historical and general interest.
All meetings are held in a very relaxed atmosphere in Langport Library, Whatley, Langport and start at 7.30pm usually on the first Monday in the month, the exceptions being Bank Holidays, December, July and August when we don't meet.
Refreshments are available for a small charge at the end of each talk which gives time to chat informally over a cup of tea or coffee with the speaker.
Annual membership of the Society is £10.00 per person. Visitors are very welcome and are asked to pay just £2.00 per meeting to help cover costs.
Further details of the Society are available from the Secretary.
