Langport Runners
Langport Runners Club is keen to let local people know about our activities. We always welcome enquiries from all ages and all abilities . We have a very enthusiastic junior section with around 30, 8 to 14 year olds and some older teenagers and of course our adult section with about 70 members again including beginners and people returning to running. Our members take part in races around Somerset and beyond and have a considerable level of success.
See below for information on current fund raising efforts for charities related to the Armed Forces.
Pete Jones who lives in Langport is the mainstay of the club ( appropriate term for an ex Navy man) and who was serving on HMS Coventry during the Falklands campaign when it was sunk with considerable loss of life. Wikipedia give details of HMS Coventry's sad loss. Pete is running to raise funds for "Project 65, to help Serving, Retired and related members of the armed forces". Pete can be contacted on 01458 251486. We also have a Blog giving more information at: http://langportrunnersextreme.blogspot.com/

Running Marathons for Charity
Three members of Langport Runners are training hard for three quite different challenges and all raising money for charities connected to our Army, Navy and Air Force.
Pete Jones was in the Royal Navy and a member of the crew of HMS Coventry when it was attacked and sunk whilst supporting the Falklands campaign. He will be completing the Forces March starting on 25th May by running 5 marathons in 5 days. Money raised will go to supporting serving, retired and related members of the armed forces including Help for Heroes. The route passes through Aller, Langport and on to Somerton on day three.
